One of the first major winter storms of the season managed to clog up portions of Colorado’s I-70 on Sunday evening, potentially delaying those traveling both eastbound and westbound between Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, spun-out semi-trucks caused multiple closures along the highway.
According to the agency’s X (formerly Twitter) posts, I-70 saw closures between Exit 216 Exit 205 westbound (Loveland Pass & Silverthorne), between Exit 205 and Exit 216 eastbound, Exit 201 and Exit 190 westbound (Frisco & Vail Pass Summit), and Exit 190 and Exit 180 eastbound (East Vail & Vail Pass Summit). Several of those closures were in relation to stalled or crashed vehicles.
