Glenwood, New York — One of the closest ski areas to Buffalo is under new ownership.
Buffalo Business First reported yesterday that Kissing Bridge was sold to a Wyoming company last week for $1.06 million. The key investor, Rhett McNulty, who’s from California, envisions Kissing Bridge as a four-season destination, with plans to add various activities and improve the facilities. Months before this deal was announced, McNulty helped build an extensive mountain biking trail network. They’ve also added snowmaking to 16 more trails.
Located around 30 miles south of Buffalo, Kissing Bridge has 39 trails, 9 lifts, and a vertical drop of 550 feet. It was named after a covered bridge that crossed the adjacent Cazenovia Creek. Unfortunately, the bridge burned down at some point in the ski area’s history. Recently, Kissing Bridge has struggled with a lack of snowfall, which has led to reduced terrain openings and even closures at some points of the season.
WKBW News 7 interviewed a couple of locals about the transaction, and it sounds like they are stoked about this news. Mike Perry, who’s the owner of the nearby Last Run Tavern and Grill, described the community’s anticipation of what this could mean for the area:
“Any new development or modernization of the ski resort would benefit everybody. If there’s more snow made, people coming from out of the area, I think everyone in the community is excited.”
We reached out to Kissing Bridge for comment about the acquisition, but they haven’t responded. Kissing Bridge told 7 News they’ll have more information about the acquisition next week.
