Park City, Utah – 2025 will be a year full of lift construction in Park City.
Six new lifts are planned for the 2025-26 season at Deer Valley as part of the second phase of their East Village expansion. While not as ambitious, Park City Mountain Resort also has a noteworthy new lift planned for the 2025-26 season.
Park City Mountain Resort will add a new gondola for the 2025-26 season. The new 6500-foot-long Sunrise Gondola will start in the Canyons Village and conclude adjacent to the Red Pine Lodge. Each gondola cabin will be able to fit up to ten people comfortably.
One core issue that Park City Mountain Resort’s Canyons Village faces is that the Red Pine Gondola and Orange Bubble Express are subject to windholds due to their location. This new gondola is being strategically placed so its alignment will be sheltered to the north. Other features that will help reduce wind holds include its lower-to-the-ground lift line, which will follow the terrain closer rather than going high above the ground, and it’ll have heavier cabins, leading to more stability.
This offseason, work began on adding a new gondola to Canyons Village. So far, they’ve cleared the lift line, completed base fillings for the future towers, and made other utility and infrastructure improvements.
The final phase, which will occur next offseason, will include installing the towers, base/top terminals, haul rope, cabins, and a bottom terminal plaza. The Sunrise chairlift will also be removed as part of the project.
Improvements for this winter include significant snowmaking upgrades to two trails on the Canyons side: Another World and Chicane. According to Ski Utah, other improvements include widening the Tombstone Alley trail, altering the Chicane Bypass piste to start further uphill, and creating a new intermediate run next to Chicane.
