A 74-year-old male hiker was rescued from a creek after falling off a bridge 18 miles east of Brookings, Oregon, on Sunday, September 29. Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay  watchstanders were notified around 2:50 p.m with a relayed request for a medevac from Air Station North Bend.
A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew was launched around 4:45pm, with the crew arriving on scene at 5:30 p.m. A rescue swimmer was lowered to assess the hiker’s condition, and the man was hoisted into the helicopter.The hiker was then transported to Del Norte County Airport in Crescent City, California, arriving around 6:50pm. The hiker’s condition is not known at this time. The near 5-minute video shows an edited look at the intense rescue, flying into the scene, hoisting the hiker, and removing them from the scene.
