SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST, California – Mt. Baldy Resort in California provided a harrowing update on the approaching Bridge wildfire around 4:30pm local time yesterday, sharing a clip of the fire growing closer and closer to the mountain.
According to InciWeb, the Bridge Fire had grown to 51,167 acres as of around 9am local time on Thursday, September 12. Further updates on Mt. Baldy are yet to be released, while the mountain’s website states that the resort will be closed until at least Saturday. Saturday is currently marked as “Check back for updates.”
Mountain High Resort, located on the far northern end of the wildfire, managed to survive through the burn with the help of snow guns and firefighters. A Bridge Fire fundraiser will be hosted through Mt. Baldy at Last Name Brewing in Upland, California, on Saturday.
The Vista Fire narrowly missed Mt. Baldy earlier this year, with operations continuing at the mountain in mid-July. It’s unclear how this new fire will impact the resort. Our thoughts are with those impacted by the Bridge Fire at this time.
