TAMARACK, Idaho – Tamarack Resort in Idaho has suspended all operations as both the Lava and Boulder fires grow closer to the mountain. According to a social media post made by the independent mountain, the area has been upgraded from “ready” to “set” under the “Ready, Set, Go” program, leading to a decision to suspend all resort operations and facilities.
The decision to suspend operations came yesterday, September 10, leading to an evacuation of the mountain. All meadow trails, mountain access, golf course, dining outlets, and vacation rentals are closed during the suspension of operations.
“We are grateful for the hard work of firefighters across our state who are working to protect the places we love. Operations will continue to be suspended until we get notification from Valley County that we are back to a “Ready” stage or the resort believes we can operate safely. We will continue to share updates on our website and social media as we receive them from officials.” – Tamarack Resort
Extreme behavior lead to the combination of the Lava & Boulder fires into one, adding up to a combined 78,457 acres. A strong storm system is expected to hit the area in the next few days, bringing cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and a potential for thunderstorms and rain.
