Adjala-Tosorontio, Ontario — If you’re looking for a gorgeous property with a pond, an airstream, and alpine and cross-country skiing trails, it’s time to move to Canada.
Recently, Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited listed 3348 Concession 3 Rd for sale. Priced at $2,495,000 CAD (around $1.85 million USD), the 75-acre property features a former ski area, cross-country trails, a swimmable pond, and an airstream.
The ski hill features three slopes and a variety of cross-country pistes. Remains of the ski area still abound, with one of the bullwheels of the old t-bar holding up a hanging chair.
The quaint swimming pond features a beach, making it ideal for swimming and fishing.
On the outskirts of the pond is the Airstream, which is intended as the living space for someone while they build out a larger home. Based on the interior, it wouldn’t make for a bad permanent living space. The purchase also comes with a Polaris Ranger 570, which isn’t a shabby way to get around the property.
The Loretto Ski Resort opened in 1965. The ski resort was built by Frank and Greshina Stripinis. Loretto started with three trails and two lifts (a t-bar and a rope tow), and had a vertical drop of 185 feet. After the ski resort began operating, the Loretto Ski Club was formed for racing purposes.
The ski area operated until 1999 or 2001 when Frank sold it. The cause of the closure was warm weather. The Loretto Ski Club moved to Mt. St Louis Moonstone, where it’s now known as the Glacier Ski Club. The Loretto name lives on with the Loretto Ski & Board Shop, run by Linas Stripinis, Frank’s son. The ski shop ended up moving, and the old shop at the ski area burned down.
