NEW ZEALAND – Imagine calling an Uber to head to work in the middle of the winter and a snowcat shows up. You’d be pretty confused. Fortunately, that’s not exactly what’s happening, but Uber is offering snowcat ski trips to Uber One members in New Zealand, celebrating ten years of operation in the country.
Beginning on Saturday, August 24, Uber One members will be able to summon a snowcat to ski the backcountry of Mount Cardrona. The exclusive limited-time-only snowcat and dining experience can be accessed through the Uber Eats app. Guests enter their address as Queenstown and search “Uber One Exclusive Ski Experience”, allowing them to make a reservation for one of the upcoming dates.
“We are very grateful for all the support we’ve received in New Zealand and wanted to celebrate that partnership in style. The last decade would not have been possible without all the driver partners, delivery people, restaurant owners and merchants who’ve trusted our technology to help them earn. We also feel incredibly thankful to Kiwi riders and eaters for sharing this journey with us. Our team is privileged to be able to support you as you go anywhere, and get almost anything, every day. Here’s to another 10 years and even more innovations along the road – starting with this world first activation in Aotearoa.” – Uber Eats New Zealand General Manager Andy Bowie
The exclusive experience is limited to 20 guests per day for three consecutive weekends. August 24, August 31, and September 6 are all included as dates. Expert guides will help locate fresh backcountry lines, while a special curated menu will provide a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. The skiing is based through private backcountry skiing and snowboarding group Soho Basin.
“We congratulate Uber on 10 years of remarkable innovation and are delighted to celebrate with them through the exclusive Soho Basin experience. This event not only marks a milestone but also unveils New Zealand’s best-kept secret. Our snowcat backcountry ski adventure, combined with award-winning Amisfield alpine dining, highlights our shared commitment to extraordinary experiences in breathtaking settings. This collaboration exemplifies the shared dedication of both companies to delivering unparalleled convenience and excitement in unique environments.” – Co-Owner of Soho Basin Zak Darby
