Glenwood Springs, Colorado – A new CEO will lead one of Colorado’s most underrated ski areas into a new era.

The Post Independent reported last week that Cindy Dady has been hired as the CEO of Sunlight Mountain Resort. She brings with her over thirty years of experience in the ski industry. Cindy has worked at New York’s Greek Peak, Colorado’s Echo Mountain, California’s Mammoth Mountain, and the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (which runs Belleayre, Gore, and Whiteface). While at Mammoth, she helped her team win the National Ski Areas Association’s Best Overall Safety Program award twice. Cindy started her new gig on August 5th.

Matt Ericksen, who’s the Marketing Director of Sunlight Mountain Resort, described Cindy’s qualifications for the role:

“Cindy Dady is exactly the leader Sunlight Mountain needs to propel us into a new era. Her profound commitment to safety, innovation, and community engagement is not just impressive but exactly aligned with our core values and long-term goals.”

Two major changes will modernize Sunlight’s lift network in the coming years. During the 2025 offseason, they are replacing the Segundo and Primo chairlifts. These replacements will open during the 2025-26 season.

The Segundo fixed-grip double chairlift, which started its life at Aspen Mountain in 1954, will be replaced by a fixed-grip triple chairlift. It will replaced by the old Lenawee Triple chairlift from Arapahoe Basin. According to Colorado Public Radio, the capacity will go from 970 guests per hour to 1,400.

The Primo chairlift, which has been at Sunlight since 1966, will be replaced by a new Leitner-Poma fixed-grip quad chairlift. The old Primo chairlift currently has a ride time of 12 minutes, and the new lift will be faster. The Primo chairlift services the summit of Sunlight.

“The replacement of Primo and Segundo signifies a new era for our resort. We are excited about the increased capacity and efficiency these new lifts will bring, while also honoring the legacy of Segundo, a beloved fixture of our mountain for over 50 years. Our goal is to offer an incredible and personalized experience, ensuring that while our infrastructure evolves, the essence of Sunlight remains unchanged. This transformation enables us to honor our roots and preserve our unique character, ensuring the welcoming atmosphere our guests love remains intact, while also enhancing the Sunlight experience with the new lifts,” said a spokesperson for Sunlight Mountain Resort.

These changes, along with the potential for future expansion, make Sunlight an exciting ski area to visit. Cindy will participate in various public and private events over the next few months, where they’ll discuss Sunlight’s future.
