PALISADES TAHOE, California – As someone who grew up skiing on the ice of the east, I learned about Palisades Tahoe only through stories and movies, but I knew enough to know that it’s where the best are created. There aren’t many resorts in this world where you could watch one, two, three, four, and so many more skiers throw 3s and backies off a natural kicker right under the lift.
Honestly if you showed this to an East Coaster who’d never skied west of the Mississippi, they’d probably believe that every skier at Palisades Tahoe skis like this. I still kind of believe that, even though I know it’s not true. But the point remains: Palisades Tahoe just produces better skiers.
Fun fact, only 30% of Palisades Tahoe is considered advanced terrain. For comparison, 53% of Vail is considered advanced terrain. But, and this is important, the advanced terrain at Palisades Tahoe is some of the gnarliest inbound terrain in the United States. I mean, 43% of Killington is considered advanced terrain (most/extremely difficult) so… you get my point.
