Junior Bounous
Junior Bounous

99-year-old Junior Bounous has probably skied more than you this season. A legend and pioneer of Utah skiing, Bounous helped design and cut the trails that now make up Snowbird. He ran the Snowbird Mountain School upon the resort’s opening,

He contributed heavily to the growth and development of skiing in the United States, and he’s still hitting the slopes today. In fact, Bounous has skied 73 days so far this season, more than many people can say they ski in a few years, and he’s still got some tips to share on the slopes.

Snowbird is still open to skiers and snowboarders, with its closing weekend scheduled for Memorial Day if conditions permit. There is currently no beginner terrain available on the mountain, and lifts will be closed Monday-Friday beginning May 12.
