ZERMATT, Switzerland – There are a fair number of summer skiing locations in Europe, with high alpine glaciers providing enough snow for the fun to carry on despite the warm weather. In Switzerland, those who crave the slopes in July can hop on the gondola from Zermatt to the Klein Matterhorn at ~12575 feet above sea level. There, the Theodul Glacier and the Zermatt Snowpark provide plenty of summer-conditioned snow for skiers and snowboarders.

“Summer skiing, longest run on glacier Snow condition: very hard snow, will be a little bit slushy after 11AM in lower altitude.”
It’s pretty insane how much snow is still up there. It makes sense for 12,500 feet, but it’s a bit of a shock as someone who hasn’t been in the Swiss mountains in July. It looks like it could be mid-winter! Summer ski day passes for Zermatt can be purchased for around 97 Swiss Francs, or ~$110 USD.
