Iceland is among the most volcanic areas in the world, seeing a volcanic eruption around every 12 months since 2021. To protect and save lives from volcanoes and eruptions, the Iceland Civil Protection Drone Unit uses DJI drones.
“Explore the crucial role that drones play in protecting Iceland from volcanic eruptions around the SundhnúksgÃgar volcanic craters. On May 29th, Iceland experienced its fifth eruption in the SundhnúksgÃgar series since December 2023. This eruption occurred near the town of Grindavik and the popular Blue Lagoon tourist attraction. See firsthand how the Iceland Civil Protection Drone Unit used the DJI Dock with Matrice 30T and M300 RTK to monitor and respond to the volcanic eruption, ensuring the safety of all civilians. This case study highlights Iceland’s first responders’ bravery, innovation, and dedication in one of Earth’s most volcanically active locations.“
