UNITED STATES – The ski season is not over. Not yet, at least. But it’s darn near close, and with Memorial Day coming and going, a huge chunk of the late-season stragglers closed their lifts for the summer.

But it’s still not over. Not yet. Keep that gear out, pack up your car, book a flight. If you want to ski on a resort in North America this weekend, there are three places where you can do it.

Arizona Snowbowl, Arizona

Arizona’s Arizona Snowbowl is pushing the state into its latest ski season in history, with lifts running on June 1st. The resort pushed their closing date back several times, eventually settling on the day last week. Weekday operations have been closed for a while now, but the mountain will reopen on Saturday and Saturday only. Lift tickets are currently available for as low as $27 if purchased ahead of time.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado

Colorado’s Winter Park halted operations for the year on Memorial Day, leaving Arapahoe Basin as the only open ski area in the state. Weekday operations will come to an end after June 2, but the resort will reopen for Friday-Sunday on June 7, 8, and 9. The resort’s closing day is still unknown, with a potential for one or more extra weekends following the June 9.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon

Timberline Lodge, unlike the other two resorts on this list, will continue operating far into the summer, as they do most years. The Palmer Express chairlift typically gives skiers and snowboarders access to the Palmer Snowfield from June-September. Much of the area is reserved for summer ski and snowboard camps, but some sections will always be open to the public.

South America!

Yes, this list is about open ski resorts in the United States. But the South American ski season has already begun in many areas, and several Chilean resorts are cracking things open this weekend as well. Valle Nevado, for example, is opening three weeks ahead of schedule after a whole load of snowfall touched down on the mountain. So if you really want some killer skiing this weekend, maybe book a flight down south.
