No better way to teach kids about the circle of life than having them watch a bear eat a bunch of ducks right in front of them, right?
This video, originally shared to TikTok, comes from the Woodland Park Zoo. Somehow a family of ducks managed to get inside a bear enclosure, and the animal reacted exactly as you would probably expect it to react. The brown bear, who’s apparently named Juniper, hunts, kills, and eats several of the ducks.
Part of me would like to think that I’d be a responsible parent and hide my hypothetical children from this sort of trauma. The other part of me knows that I’d be glued to the action, whether or not my hypothetical kids were seeing it to.
Zoo bears eating ducks actually seems to be a decently common occurrence. Back in 2019, visitors of the San Diego Zoo were traumatized by a polar bear going to town on a duck. Let this be a warning, parents. If you’re at the enclosure and a duck or two find their way in, hide your children.
