BRITISH COLUMBIA, Canada – Alterra Mountain Company has officially closed the purchase of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing (MWHS) in Blue River, British Columbia. The Canadian-based operation joins CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures as one of two helicopter operations owned by the company.

MWHS operates in the Cariboo, Monashee, and Rocky Mountains ranges, offering 1.5 million acres of ski terrain over 1,000 peaks. A 20,000 square foot full-service lodge, the Albreda Lodge, 22 handcrafted log chalets, and a full-service sports shop makes up the operations physical locations.

Alterra notes that MWHS operates within Simpcw First Nation territory and states that they’ve worked closely with the Nation throughout the entire process of acquisition. In addition, both Alterra and MWHS have stated that they’ll continue to prioritize environmental sustainability, inclusivity in outdoor sports, and capital investment.
