ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colorado – Parking reservations will be required on weekends, holidays and other peak days at Arapahoe Basin next season, according to an announcement on COO Al Henceroth’s blog.

As of now, reservations will be required between mid-December and early May, covering the busiest days of the season. The reservations will only be required until 1pm, costing guests $20 per vehicle, and a $150 season pass will be available to cover fees for the entire season (though reservations will still need to be made).

To encourage carpooling, vehicles with four or more guests will be free. This reportedly has nothing to do with the Alterra acquisition currently in the works.

We are doing this to take care of the guest experience at Arapahoe Basin. Limiting season pass sales, ticket sales and Ikon Pass access has mostly worked well to control daily skier numbers. We will continue to do those things, but as many of you have noticed, the skier numbers are creeping up again.” – Al Henceroth

Henceroth has reportedly discussed the change with several skiers and snowboarders on the mountain, some of whom were skeptical and some of whom were embracing. The blog highlights how the “spontaneity of skiing” can become a major contributor to parking problems.

Some told me they would be in favor of reservations knowing that when they got to The Basin, they would have a parking spot. They thought reservations would reduce stress and eliminate the frantic rush to get here.” – Al Henceroth

The 2024/25 Arapahoe Basin season passes are currently on sale for $659 without renewal and $559 with renewal (adult unrestricted access price). Arapahoe Basin is currently still limited access on the Ikon Pass, though Al’s Blog does hint towards the possibility of that changing upon completion of the Alterra deal.
