WHISTLER, British Columbia – A recent incident at Whistler Blackcomb could have ended tragically if not for the quick actions of Debbi Cottrell, a Whistler regular, who managed to hold onto a seven-year-old ski-school student dangling from the Crystal Ridge Express. The young skier fell 40 feet, but thanks to Cottrell’s intervention, the situation was far less severe.

Remarkably, the child sustained no injuries from the ordeal and bravely returned to the slopes to continue skiing.

This blog post includes new footage of the harrowing moment, captured by a skier named Peter Bodik, who was seated on a chair in front of the one the child fell from. Bodik’s footage provides a unique perspective on the dramatic rescue and the collective effort to ensure the young skier’s safety.
