BRIAN HEAD, Utah — Dozens of people were safely evacuated from a ski lift in Brian Head on Sunday afternoon after what appears to be a deropement malfunction on Lift 2 (also known as the Giant Steps Express).

KSL reports the incident occurred shortly after noon and left approximately 180 skiers stranded. Brian Head Ski Patrol successfully belayed all the guests to the ground and no injuries were reported.

“They started at the top, and chair by chair, they just went down the line.” -Brian Head Resort Marketing Director, Amber Palmer

The following video does show the deropement and subsequent evacuation but don’t pay attention to the caption reading “chairlift collapses.” The chairlift did not collapse and everyone was evacuated safely.
