Franconia, New Hampshire- After half a year of searching, The Living Legend has found its next general manager. Ski Area Management reports that Jace Wirth will be the next General Manager of the New Hampshire ski area. His salary was officially approved by New Hampshire state lawmakers earlier this year, as Cannon is a state-run ski area.

Jace Wirth released the following statement to Ski Area Management:

“It is an honor to become part of the rich history of Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park. I will bring the same passion and community focus that emanates from the Cannon family. Always with gratitude and respect for those who have come before, we’ll continue to build on the legacy of this special place.”

Jace has an extensive amount of experience in the ski industry. He was the assistant General Manager at the Genting Resort Secret Garden ski resort in China, the director of resort services at Echo Mountain, and was involved in a plan to bring a Bode Miller ski academy to Granby Ranch, which ultimately didn’t work out. His most recent position was as CEO of Alaska Shore Tours. This is a segway tour company that takes cruise travelers around some of the most popular spots in Alaska.

Jace will replace Greg Keeler, the longtime director of sales and marketing who was serving as the interim General Manager. Before Greg was John DeVivo, who served as General Manager at Cannon for sixteen years before departing for the GM position at Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area in Wyoming.

The major project on the horizon is the replacement of the tram. They received money for a replacement of the tram from New Hampshire lawmakers, although it sounds like the state will need to appropriate more money for the project.
