Londonderry, Vermont- After years of logistical hurdles and delays, Magic Mountain Ski Area has finally opened the Black Line Quad chairlift.

Yesterday, Geoff Hatheway, who’s the President of Ski Magic, LLC, shared a photo of staff members taking a ride on the Black Line Quad.

Today was the soft opening to the public for the chairlift, as it ran from 10 am- 2 pm. There will be another limited opening on Friday, with a grand opening scheduled for this Saturday.

The new Magic Mountain chairlift adds much-needed capacity to the ski resort. For the past couple of years, they’ve relied on the Red chair to service the summit. The double chairlift has a minimal uphill capacity, so lift lines were common. This addition will help reduce lift lines and improve crowd flow. The ride time of the Black Line Quad is around eleven minutes.

First purchased from Stratton Mountain Resort in 2018, it’s been a long and winding road to get this fixed-grip quad chairlift operational. Originally, it was intended to open during the 2018-19 season. Each winter, it would seem like the Black chairlift was close to opening, and then some hurdle would get in the way.

Congrats to the folks over at Magic Mountain for finally getting this over the finish line. I’m looking forward to riding it.
