An absolute monster of an avalanche was triggered in Tepee Basin in southwest Montana on Wednesday. NBC Montana reports the mile-wide slide is the biggest avalanche observed this season. An avalanche warning remains in place for the mountains around West Yellowstone and Island Park. Continued snowfall combined with the 2-3 feet of snow that fell this week make both natural and human-triggered avalanches in the area an ongoing threat.
