The Big Couloir is regarded as one of the toughest trails in North America. The steep chute requires a beacon and a partner to ride with. It’s pretty common to see videos of people successfully taking on Big Couloir, but what happens when somebody crashes in there?

This video from @skiingkms2010 will make you think twice before jumping into the Couloir. Back on March 12th, 2021, he was going up the old Lone Peak Tram, when somebody crashed on the run. How he crashed wasn’t shown, but it shows him sliding down the Couloir, hitting a rock, and eventually nearing the bottom after losing both of his skis.

As brutal as the crash was, some of the Lone Peak Tram commentary was pretty funny:

“Stop yourself, come on!”

“Don’t fall folks… No fall zone.”

In terms of how the skier fared, it turned out that he dislocated and fractured his shoulder and broke his tib-fib.” YouTuber Sterling Crawford gave an update on his health around ten months ago:

“He’s healed and back out skiing. Met him on a lift in Big Sky today and he told us to look up this video. He’s back out skiing and has already skied 100 days this year. Really cool guy.”
