Three individuals have been apprehended by authorities for allegedly stealing snowboards at Boreal Mountain Resort, raising concerns about equipment security. KCRA reports that two snowboarders had left their snowboards unlocked in a ski rack near the lift at Boreal for approximately 15 minutes. Upon returning, they discovered one of the snowboards missing and began searching for it within the resort.

Their search led them to a truck parked outside, where they noticed one of the snowboards in the bed of the pickup. Confronting the individual in the truck about the theft, two other men joined the discussion, and a violent altercation ensued. One of the victims was assaulted, and the truck fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Providing detailed descriptions of the three men and the vehicle, the snowboarders aided deputies in tracking it to the home of one of the suspects in Grass Valley. With two of the men on probation, Nevada County Probation collaborated with deputies to investigate further. At the suspect’s residence, authorities recovered four additional stolen snowboards and drug paraphernalia. The trio was subsequently arrested and booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.

In response to the incident, the sheriff’s office issued a warning to snowboarders and skiers, advising against leaving equipment unattended in racks. Lieutenant Rusty Greene emphasized the convenience of the racks but urged caution. Boreal Mountain Resort’s marketing director, Tucker Norred, acknowledged that many visitors do not lock up their equipment despite the resort’s recommendation to do so. Norred mentioned the availability of locks for purchase and the presence of special racks designed for ski and snowboard locks across the resort.

The three arrested individuals were identified as Shane Farnsworth-Slattery (25), Dakoda Hamilton (23), and Brandon Henslee (38). All three face charges of grand theft and criminal conspiracy, with additional charges for Henslee and Farnsworth-Slattery.
