There are two types of skiers in this world. Those who dream of some day skiing in Japan, and those who want to go back. Unfortunately I fall into the first category, though I desperately hope that I’ll someday fall into the second. Why do I, and many other skiers, dream of skiing in Japan? Because we have eyes, and we can see the videos that people post from their trips to Japan.

Swedish skier Malou Peterson, like professional skiers, is very good at posting videos that make me feel a desperate desire to ski wherever it is that she happens to be skiing. Alaska? Duh. Antarctica? Yes please. Sweden? Of course. Japan? We already talked about this, didn’t we?

Somehow Malou has made my desire to ski in Japan even stronger with her most recent Instagram video. While a typical “skiing in Japan” clip features incredibly deep snow mixed with shots of hot springs, this video features incredibly deep nighttime pow shots mixed with endless snowfall.

If you asked me “do you think skiing Japan at night would be sick?” before I watched this video, I would have said “yes, absolutely, why are you even asking me that?” It’s not that it’s a difficult concept to wrap my mind around, I’ve just never actually thought about it. Now that I have, though, you can bet your butt that I want to ski in Japan at night.

Are you kidding me? That’s so sick and nothing will convince me otherwise. I think I want to ski at night in Japan more then I want to ski in Japan. Maybe that’s a given though. Fortunately we have two videos of the glory of Japanese night skiing, night just one. Hopefully it’ll turn into a full video on her YouTube channel, or at least a segment of a full video.
