Wise word on backcountry skiing from a dude who has seen it all. Ian McIntosh has been skiing heavy duty lines in Alaska since 2006 and wants to share some of the lessons he’s learned over the years. This includes proper training and safety equipment but also the humility to realize that no matter how enticing terrain may look, it’s never worth risking your life for turns:

“It’s huge to able to turn around and walk away when you go out into the mountain because at the end of the day that’s your best safety tool you have is your ability to be humble and realize there’s always going to be another line to ski, there’ always going to be some more pow to shred but you only have this one life and it’s precious and its fragile.” -Ian McIntosh

Remember discretion is the better part of valor. Be safe out there folks.
