F*#king moose and their disputes, always pushing their problems into our backyards. Absolutely disgusting. You spend countless hours making your backyard yours, you get a nice fence, you put up some nice furniture, and boom, some selfish moose have to destroy it in their fight. Damn neighbors always cause problems.
If this sounds like some weird Alaskan type of complaint, that’s because it is. A woman watched her fence, porch, and porch furniture take a major hit during a full blown bull moose fight in her backyard. Probably wound up costing her way to much in repairs. Do Alaskan insurance companies cover bull moose battles?
Watch
As devastating as it is for her, it’s pretty darn cool for us to watch. They really go at it, and it’s pretty rare to be able to watch a fight like this from just a few feet away. Good on this woman for capturing the whole thing on camera.
Obviously you’re not at a huge risk of having moose fight in your yard, but it’s always good to go over wildlife safety when stuff like this occurs. If there’s a moose in your backyard, you should absolutely take some photos and some videos. Enjoy the moment while it lasts, but do not approach the animal. In fact, if you’re inside, it’s probably best to stay inside.
If you’re outside and you encounter a moose, stay calm and don’t run away. Talk calmly to make your presence known, but definitely try not to startle the animal. If, for some reason, it decides to charge, get behind some solid object so it can’t make contact. If that fails and the moose knocks you over, curl into a ball and protect your head, waiting until the moose retreats.
