Arguably the most extreme ski area in North America is Silverton Mountain. Located outside of the town of Silverton, the no-frills ski area has just one chairlift. There are no groomed runs, and bringing avalanche gear is required. It’s a mountain where skiers and riders go to be humbled.

This week, AETHER Apparel detailed the Silverton Mountain experience. In the short film Exploring Silverton—Colorado’s Winter Playground, the experience of the mountain and the town are detailed. The excellent cinematography gives you a glimpse of a ski area that isn’t featured as many of the big names in the North American ski industry but is definitely worth your attention. With an ownership change and a new chairlift coming eventually, we’ll definitely be hearing more about this special place in the future.
