In case you needed even more of a reason to be terrified of the ocean, here’s a video of a sea lion tearing out a shark’s throat.

Nature truly is extremely metal. I definitely want to warn anyone who’s about to watch that this video is graphic. When I say this is a clip of a sea lion ripping out shark’s throat, I mean it. Do not watch if you are squeamish, please.

This clip was shot with princess Monterey Whale Watching, likely in California. Absolutely crazy stuff.

“Nature isn’t always a pleasant thing to watch for some people. I understand for others it’s a cool encounter. How do you feel about it?”

Sea lions are opportunistic feeders, according to the Marine Mammal Center, which means they go for easy meals. That includes squid, herring and even small sharks.

Sea lions really will eat whatever they can get. According to NOAA, they’re known to eat squid, anchovies, mackerel, rockfish, and sardines, but they’ll also steal from fishing rigs and sport fishing lines. Also, apparently, they’ll rip out a sharks throat for a meal.

Obviously it was a pretty small shark, but it’s still insane (and a bit horrifying). Remind me not to mess with a sea lion any time soon.
