Though it feels a bit like the opposite of skiing, I’m always a big fan of a nice day on a golf course. You get to enjoy being outside in a different manner than normal. It’s usually pretty warm out, you aren’t really worried about injuring yourself, and you can often enjoy a nice beer while hittin’ some balls around. It’s just pure relaxation.

Okay, maybe relaxation isn’t the proper term. Once you’ve shanked enough balls or launched several into the woods on your drive, the relaxation aspect starts to fade. Plus you’re sitting in the hot sun for hours on end, drinking beer and often not enough water, all while wandering around a field or driving a cart. It can be a recipe for disaster. And, to make matters even worse, golf seems to have some of the weirdest wildlife interactions of any sport out there.

Alligators, obviously, are a pretty popular one. But a curious squirrel or bird can ruin your game before you even notice they’re there. Seriously, just google “golf animal interactions”. You’ll find plenty of clips to enjoy. For now, though, here’s a video of a bear chasing a coyote around a golf course while people are trying to play.

Just your normal Canadien golf conditions you have to deal with on the regular

I’d like to know what the official rules say in a situation like this. Do you play through, or are you allowed to delay the competition until the coyote and bear leave the course?

The coyote definitely seems to be the instigator here. The bear chases him away, and he heads right back. I’m willing to bet he’s trying to steal some food, and the bear’s had enough of it.
