“Taking a small hiatus from camp in Chile while it snows 80,000,000 cm at Ski Portillo but had so much fun with my speed teammates and my team and will be back at it on the long boards again.”

Great to see Mikaela Shiffrin back on “long boards” as she trains for the upcoming World Cup competition schedule while down in Chile. Portillo has been getting dumped on lately and while that isn’t ideal for the best skiers in the world to whip high speed training runs, conditions have been looking choice for everyone else. Bonus points if you know what Army division Mikaela was taking pictures with on the Chilean slopes (check out the photos below):

Ski Portillo, nestled high in the Andes Mountains of Chile, is a world-renowned ski resort that offers a unique and exhilarating alpine experience. With its breathtaking location beside the stunning Laguna del Inca, this picturesque resort has captivated skiers and snowboarders from around the globe for decades.

Portillo is renowned for its exceptional skiing conditions, boasting an impressive annual snowfall and a long ski season that typically runs from June to October. Its challenging slopes cater to both beginners and advanced skiers, making it an ideal destination for all skill levels. The resort’s famous “Roca Jack” and “Super C” runs are particularly popular among expert skiers seeking steep terrain and deep powder.

Beyond the slopes, Ski Portillo offers a charming, intimate atmosphere, as it accommodates only a limited number of guests. The iconic yellow hotel is the centerpiece of the resort, providing cozy accommodations, fine dining, and vibrant après-ski activities.

What sets Ski Portillo apart is its emphasis on disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With limited cell phone reception and no TV in guest rooms, visitors are encouraged to savor the breathtaking mountain vistas, engage in social activities, and revel in the tranquility of this alpine paradise.

Ski Portillo in Chile is not just a ski resort; it’s a destination that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, challenging slopes, and a serene escape from the modern world. It’s a place where skiers and snowboarders can truly connect with the mountains and each other, making it an unforgettable experience for all who venture there.
