For the third consecutive night, wildlife workers have set bear traps in an effort to capture a grizzly bear that was responsible for the tragic death of a woman near Yellowstone National Park.

KCRA reports Amie Adamson, a 48-year-old resident of Derby, Kansas, lost her life in a fatal mauling on Saturday while she was alone on a forest trail near the Montana-Idaho border, according to the Gallatin County Coroner’s Office. Amie was an avid marathon runner, and it is believed that she was either running or walking when the bear attacked.

Authorities have ruled out the possibility of a rare predatory attack, leading them to conclude that Adamson likely encountered the bear by chance while she was traveling alone through an area known to be frequented by grizzly and black bears.

The incident occurred just a few hundred yards away from a trailhead and a private campground and RV park. The bear responsible for the attack was accompanied by one or more cubs, and there were no signs to indicate that it attempted to consume the victim.
