Tragic news out of Colorado where climber died Sunday after falling about 500 feet while free soloing in Rocky Mountain National Park

9NEWS reports the climber, a 26-year-old woman from Boulder, was free solo climbing on the Four Aces of Blitzen Ridge, located on Ypsilon Mountain on the east side of the park, when she fell approximately 500 feet.

Her climbing partner called into park rangers to notify them of the accident. Because of his location, he was hoisted out of the area by a helicopter crew. Her body was recovered early Monday morning with the assistance of a helicopter crew. Her name has not yet been released.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.
