Breckenridge Resort Announces Closing Date For 2022-23 Season

The good times from the 2022-23 season at Breckenridge Resort are coming to an end.

This week, the Vail-owned Colorado ski resort announced that they will be closing on Sunday, May 21st. Before their video announcement on Tuesday, they hadn’t formally announced a closing date. With warm and rainy weather coming through over the next couple of days, the move makes sense. They’ve lost quite a bit of snow due to warm weather over the past few days. This led them to close the hike-to terrain in the Imperial Bowl, along with the Horseshoe Bowl, due to avalanche risk.

Currently, Breckenridge has 22 trails and 4 lifts open. For terrain, there are intermediate, advanced, and expert trails open on Peaks 6 and 7. They will be open through Sunday, with the lifts operating from 9 am-4 pm.

After Breckenridge closes on Sunday, only two Colorado ski resorts will still be open for skiing and riding. Arapahoe Basin will remain open daily until June 4th and could extend the season if the snow sticks around. Meanwhile, Winter Park Resort is aiming to remain open as late as possible (ALAP).
