Vail Resorts Epic Lift Upgrade will transform many of their ski resorts, including Breckenridge in Colorado. Rip’s Ride, which was a fixed-grip double chair, will be replaced with a high-speed quad. The lift replacement will grow capacity by 70% compared to its predecessor and will reduce lines at the Peak 8 base area. While the lift is primarily targeted toward beginner skiers and riders, the top terminal will be further up the hill, giving easier access to Peak 9 and its various lifts.
The dismantling of the lift, chairs, and haul rope has started, and I would expect the old chairs to be available via auction, as is typically the case for old Vail Resort lifts. The new lift is expected to open during the 2022-23 season.
