There’s nothing quite like The Frank World Ski Classic at Alta Ski Area in Utah. Skiers come to Alta Ski Area on closing day to celebrate in a carefree celebration known as Frank.

Created by Dusty Baldwin and Mike Trioli, participants wear retro ski gear and compete on a mogul and jump course on Punk Rock, which is below the Wildcat chairlift. This is then followed by a celebration on top of High Boy. The result is a day full of debauchery and hot dogs.

For this year, there were some rules that people had to follow. People could no longer ski in the nude, throw snowballs, or jump off the chairlift. In terms of if these rules were actually followed… I have no idea, but I’m going to guess that you can’t deter the will of the people.

The Daily Pow, which produces edits of Alta’s skiing conditions until the snow melts, produced a sweet edit of the action from Frank. The video features tricks, partying, and lots of retro outfits. In spite of new rules, I’d say it was still a fun time and a nice way to conclude Alta’s monumental 85th season. The video from The Daily Pow is below.

“This winter will be remembered, probably forever. We broke 900″ this morning. What! Unbelievable season here in Utah. Alta’s final day was Sunday and mother nature gave us bluebird to celebrate with another Frank competition. The rules tightened up quite a bit. No snowballs or nudity. That significantly changed the vibe of the party but it didn’t change how skiers channeled their inner Frank and gave us quite the show! Cheers to all the competitors! And cheers to the 2022-2023 winter season in Utah!”-The Daily Pow
