A concerning situation unfolded over at Snowbird today, as an avalanche on the lower portion of Mt. Superior and above the Chickadee lift forced Little Cottonwood Canyon back into interlodge. The large slide appears to have continued past SR-210 and onto the Chickadee Chutes trail.
These photos from Bitner Dickson show that the slide landed on the trails over at the Chickadee lift, which is right next to the Snowbird Center and the Cliff Lodge. Here’s a video of the slab from Steve over at Powderchasers:
After a thorough search by Snowbird’s Ski Patrol, they discovered that there was no employees or guest buried by the avalanche. An official statement from Snowbird is below.
3:24 pm UPDATE:
Snowbird teams have completed a full search of the incident site and have confirmed that no guests or employees were caught in the debris caused by an avalanche that was triggered outside of Snowbird’s boundaries.
