“My family remains dedicated to providing the finest skiing and snowboarding experience in Ontario. This advancement helps guests spend more time on the slopes and less time waiting in a lift line.”– Robert Huter, General Manager of Mount St. Louis Moonstone.

Mount St. Louis Moonstone in Ontario will be one of the first Canadian ski resorts to have an eight-pack chairlift. Called the Adventure 8, the Doppelmayr D-Line Direct Drive 8-seater chairlift will be able to carry 4250 passengers an hour. The new high-speed chairlift, which will replace the Adventure Express, will go from the Moonbeam base lodge to the Moonbeam summit.

The most unique feature of the new chairlift will be the L-shaped base terminal. Kircher Concepts, which helped conceptualize the lift for Moonstone, said that “it allows the design capacity to reach near maximum while still allowing a 90-degree loading setup. With a standard terminal, 90-degree loading increases the minimum distance between chairs.” Other features for passengers include a loading conveyor, manual lock safety bars, footrests, and heated seats.

The lift could become the first high-speed in Canada, as they’ll be racing with Whistler Blackcomb of being the first to open an eight-pack during the 2023-24 season. Based on Whistlers’ struggles during this season in terms of getting two chairlifts open, there’s a good chance Mount St. Louis Moonstone is the first to open their eight-pack.

The new chairlift is expected to open during the 2023-24 season.
