“I ran back down to the hill where she was at, laying, like, lifeless, just bleeding everywhere.” –Michael Tietz

A Utah mother is recovering in the ICU after a catastrophic crash Saturday in the Peter Sinks area of Logan Canyon. KSL reports Samantha Bergman was going for one last tube ride before calling it a day. She tied her tube together with some friends to form a train and dropped into the pitch.

Her fiancé Michael Tietz saw a snowmobile drive into their path before the head-on impact. Tietz sprinted downhill to be by her side and then saw the extensive injuries to her face. Bystanders assisted her until search and rescue teams arrived on scene. All told she broke her back in 3 places, tore ligements in her neck and is going to have reconstructive surgery on her cheekbone.  Doctors at University of Utah have say she will have a long road to recovery.  Her fiancé wants the incident to be a cautionary tale:

“Be careful, pay attention, and obviously if you see a hill loaded with 20, 30 people at the top of the hill tubing down, commonsense: don’t drive into the hill.” –Michael Tietz

GoFundMe campaign has been set up to offset Samantha’s medical bills, to contribute GO HERE:
