For The First Time In 50 Years, New York City Has Seen No Snow This Winter

By

Hunter Mountain, which is one of the closest ski resorts to NYC, looked bleak earlier this month.

Start spreading the news, because New York City needs some snow. CBS News New York reports that the Big Apple has yet to see measurable snow this winter, which is the first time that’s happened in fifty years. Their last recorded snowfall is March 9th, 2022.

Local ski resorts in Southern New England and New York have struggled to make snow this winter, which is the other essential ingredient to success. Some people in the city are excited about the milder weather, while skiers/riders are getting concerned about their local ski areas.

For ski retail businesses though, they’re not struggling with a lack of customers. Surefoot, which is a ski boot fitting company that has a location in the city, is busy.

Many of their clients make trips to other skiing destinations across the world. New York has access to three airports that get you to places like Colorado, Utah, California, and other skiing destinations, so their logic makes sense.
