On Monday, a tragedy occurred at Gunstock Mountain Resort. WMUR and the Laconia Daily Sun report that Sydnie Quimby, who was a fifteen-year-old high school student, passed away following a skiing accident at the New Hampshire ski resort. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. She suffered multiple injuries, including head trauma. She was taken to multiple hospitals before being pronounced dead.

Tom Day, who is the President and General Manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort, said the following to the press:

“She was initially comforted by some of the skiing public until Gunstock Ski Patrol arrived at the scene shortly after. For us, it’s a sad thing. Our hearts go out to the family. It’s a difficult time for them and the Gunstock family.”

Students at Gilford High School were told about her death on Tuesday, and have been given additional mental health resources during this mourning period.

Sydnie Quimby was a freshman at Gilford High School. Her passions included skiing and horseback riding. She was a part of the New England Six Shooters, which is a club that performs trick shooting using revolvers and blanks while mounted to a horse.
