With much of the west blanketed by deep snow, its a great time to get a better appreciation of the hard work ski patrollers are putting in to mitigate avalanche dangers and open up the terrain we all want to get to while its deep. Follow along with of three of Beaver Creek’s finest as they prep explosives and head out into the field:

“Stone Creek Chutes is highly awaited experts-only terrain here at Beaver Creek, but it takes tons of work to prepare it safely for our guests. Learn from our knowledgeable patrollers all the steps necessary to open this extreme terrain with safety at top of mind! It’s important that we carefully prepare this terrain to avoid natural avalanche risk, so make sure to respect closures as this team does their work.
Now that Stone Creek Chutes is open, remember to give this terrain the respect it deserves. It is extreme for a reason: you will encounter cliffs, rocks, trees, and ungroomed natural terrain. Terrain management and route choice is essential. We are incredibly grateful to our operations teams for their hard work and commitment to safety in opening our mountain.”
