When shopping for kids’ ski gear, there is one brand that cannot be overlooked. Norwegian ski clothing manufacturer Helly Hansen makes premium apparel for adults and youths. Their garments are extremely technical, durable, and well thought out. This thoughtfulness to design is particularly important for youth ski apparel that has some unique criteria.

A standout among their great line of kids’ ski gear is the Kids’ Rider 2.0 Insulated Snow Suit. For starters, it’s a one-piece ski suit, so there’s less opportunity for us parents to forget a jacket or pants back at the cabin.  But more importantly, the one-piece design allows kids to roll, tumble and play in the snow without any snow getting down into the middle and base layer. This means all-day winter fun in the snow and ice while the kid stays dry and warm.

Additionally, the garment is very well thought out and practical. It has ample pockets for storing snacks and other kid-essential ski items. It is also made out of durable material, allowing it to survive multiple seasons and be passed down to younger siblings.

“This fully weatherproof, insulated snow suit enables kids to get outside and stay outside in deep winter. Our trusted HELLY TECH® Performance 2-layer fabric system is waterproof/breathable and windproof. With the planet in mind, we used light and warm PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation made from 100% recycled content. Because young adventurers play hard, the seat, knees and bottom hems are reinforced to maximize multi-season use. Additional features include high visibility elements and reflective for visibility in low light.” – Helly Hansen

Another aspect of the Kids’ Rider 2.0 Insulated Snow Suit that we find very thoughtful is the bright fluorescent colors on the shoulders and hood of the garment. This allows other skiers to clearly see the little tykes making their way down the hill, lessening the chance of a collision.

When our product tester Thomas was asked what he thought of the Snow Suit, he said, “I like it. It keeps me warm.” When asked to elaborate, he said (with a big smile), “I don’t know, I just like it. And it looks cool. And has hidden suspenders inside.”
