“Yo Kiteboarders & Kitesurfers how often do you see sharks follow you and/or pop up next to you while you’re boarding? Do you notice any differences in the frequency of shark sightings and/or differences in the sharks behaviors when you’re riding a “foil” board vs a “non-foil” board? Asking for a friend.” –Andy Brandy Casagrande IV

Interesting question posed by shark specialist/kiteboarder Andy Brandy. Legendary skier Chuck Patterson weighed in and thinks for foiling it might be a case of mistaken identity on the sharks part:

“The foil underwater definitely resembles or can look like a ray of which sharks do chase and eat. Just got to be fast.”

Not super scientific but his recommendation of “just got to be fast” is sound. Be careful out there kitefoilers.
