The Colorado ski season is off to a roaring start. Consistent snowmaking temperatures and frequent snowfall have led ski resorts to open at a rapid pace. At 9 a.m. today, Eldora Mountain Resort opened for the season. Only one top-to-bottom run is open: The hornblower-to-International run, which is serviced by the Alpenglow six-pack chairlift. A small terrain park is also open, so it sounds like a solid start for their sixtieth year of operations.

The ski resort spent $10 million this offseason on improvements. They have increased their parking lot capacity by 50%, and have also added electric vehicle charging stations. With this being the closest major ski resort to Boulder and Denver, this is a crucial improvement, as they’ve struggled with parking capacity in prior seasons. Some of their other projects included snowmaking upgrades, a new rental equipment fleet, Timbers Lodge kitchen remodel, various on-mountain trail improvements, IT upgrades, lift-maintenance projects, and fleet vehicle maintenance and upgrades.” For Boulder residents, you can take a free bus from downtown during weekends, so do your part and use public transport.
