“Big whoops at bridge day. Make sure your jumping buddies know the jump plan.”
Unbelievably sketchy moment at the yearly BASE jumping festival known as Bridge Day held in West Virginia over the New River Gorge Bridge. Usually jumping off the bridge spanning the 800ft deep gorge is illegal but for one day a year its allowed and jumpers from around the world flock and some choose to push the limits of what is possible in the sport…and sometimes they push too hard. Glad these two not only survived this midair mishap but actually walked away under their own power. I’m no expert but I think a bit more pregame coordination would have gone a long way to avoid this near tragedy.
