Solitude Mountain Resort has had a busy offseason, as they have upgraded various parts of its summer experience. Some additions included an adventure park, a walking path between the two base areas, a beginner mountain biking flow trail around the Link chairlift, and opening up the Moonbeam base area for summer operations.
Amber Broadaway, who is the President and COO of Solitude, gave her latest video update on the progress of various offseason projects. Amber announced that they acquired a food truck, and will be moving it around the mountain during the winter season. The major offseason project is the addition of two terrain parks. It will be the first terrain park accessible to guests in many years. They did have some in the 2000s and early 2010s, but they were phased out. Additionally, they hosted Snowboardcross World Cup events in recent years, but these courses were never open to the public.
The two parks will be located on the Main Street and North Star trails. For the early season, they will have their terrain park located exclusively on Main Street. When they get sufficient snowpack, they will move their medium features to Northstar, and keep their small features on the flats of the Main Street trail. Their terrain parks will have jumps, rails, and boxes.
It’s exciting to see the progress being made on the park features, as I actually walked past them when I was at Solitude a couple of weeks ago. They’ve been repainted blue since I was there.
