Copper Mountain in Colorado could be getting a critical lift upgrade. Denver 7 reports that White River National Forest is looking for people’s comments on two significant projects that Copper Mountain is proposing. The first is the replacement of the Timberline Express, a high-speed quad that opened in 1994, with a detachable six-pack chairlift. The new lift will increase capacity by three thousand people per hour. The Timberline Express terrain pod features easy and intermediate runs, along with multiple terrain parks.
Additionally, Copper Mountain is proposing 22.06 miles of new downhill mountain biking trails. The biking trails would be accessed by the American Eagle and the Woodward Express chairlifts. According to the U.S. Forest Service, the routes would be “singletrack, flow, hybrid, or jump trails.” The U.S. Forest Service previously approved 18 miles of new mountain biking trails, but this proposal by Copper Mountain is meant to replace these plans.
