“If you have been following me for several years, you must know the Monfaucon peak. I’ve tried it no less than 6 times in 6 years… Once, we even failed less than 10 m (in elevation) from the summit!! Each time for a different reason… Hence the term “cursed summit”. With my teammates, we had come to talk about it with fear and respect whereas it is not the most major or the most difficult of the peaks that I have attempted. Here is the 7th attempt to ride it completely by mountain bike from the summit, the REAL summit!”
Nothing quite like the delayed gratification of finally accomplishing an objective after making wise decisions/frustrating decisions to abort due to circumstances out of your control. Such is the case for French mountain biker Alexis Righetti who finally made a top to bottom technical descent of the treacherous Pic de Montfaucon in the in Hautes-Pyrénées. Congratulations to Alexis, that scree section was intense!
