I might get some flack for saying this, but after living in Denver for four years, I can pretty confidently say the city isn’t known for its cool locations and interesting sights. The value of Denver, and most of Colorado in general, isn’t the man made buildings and locations, but rather the nature that surrounds the entire state (maybe just half the state, since eastern Colorado is basically just flat land). You fly into Denver International Airport to go hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and, most importantly, skiing.

So, when you are flying in to head to the mountains, maybe for a vacation trip to Vail or to sleep on the floor of your buddies apartment while making day trips to Arapahoe Basin, the downtime in the city can definitely be boring. What’s likely the most common option (aside from visiting some of Colorado’s local herb stores) is checking out the local breweries and bars, and, as of August 13th, a new local brewery attraction may be worth your time.

FlyteCo Tower, a brewery located inside the old Stapleton International Airport air traffic control tower, features three bars, two levels, and an outdoor patio space, coming together to make up the over 20,000 square feet of space. They have an expansive (and delicious looking) food menu with burgers, pizza, and more, as well as, of course, a hearty spread of beer and booze. IPAs, Amber ales, lagers, and craft seltzers (among others) are all on draft, and there’s plenty of craft cocktails to keep the day/night interesting. They also have six bowling lanes, pinball, mini golf, pool tables, and more, so you don’t have to just sit at a table and talk to people (gross).

FlyteCo Tower is open Thursday through Sunday, with food open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and bar open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.. The coffee bar is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.. All in all, this seems like a pretty darn sweet destination. Expensive? Probably. Worth the trip? Hopefully! I’ll try to make my way over there in the next few weeks to give all you friendly readers some stories from a first hand experience.
